The method
Grind it where it stands.
Forestry mulching is land clearing with one machine. A rotary head on the CAT cuts brush and small trees, grinds them, and lays a mulch bed in the same pass. That’s why Florida lots — sand, palmetto, and a wet season — take this better than a dozer and a burn pile.

- How much does forestry mulching cost in Florida?
- It’s priced by the job — acres you want cleared, how heavy the cover is, and any trees or haul. Draw the tract on the estimate to see the number for your property. We don’t publish a per-acre menu because a light pasture and a palmetto wall are not the same day.
- How is forestry mulching different from a bulldozer?
- A dozer scrapes. A mulcher grinds. You keep the soil, you get a mulch layer, and you don’t need a burn pile or a dump trailer for the clearing itself. Roots stay in the ground unless you mark stumps for grind or excavator removal.
- What size trees can the mulcher take?
- The head is built for brush and trees in the under-8-inch class. Mark anything bigger on the estimate — we cut and chop those, and haul or grind stumps if you want them gone.
- Does forestry mulching remove stumps?
- The mulcher takes them down near grade with the rest of the cover. If you want them gone completely, mark grind or excavator removal on the estimate.
- Does the brush grow back after forestry mulching?
- It’ll try. Palmetto and Brazilian pepper resprout from the roots — mulching is a reset, not a poison. The chip layer slows them, and a mow or two the first year keeps it from turning back into a wall.
- Does forestry mulching attract termites?
- A thin chip layer on an open lot isn’t a wood pile against the house. We don’t stack it on the slab. Keep it off the foundation and it’s not a termite magnet — Florida dirt already has wood in it.
- How long does a forestry mulching job take?
- Most house lots and small acreage are a day. Thick palmetto and bigger tracts take longer. The estimate is based on the acres you draw and how heavy the cover is.
